Adventure gamers met Fenimore Fillmore for the first time back in 1996 with 3 Skulls of the Toltecs. In his first adventure, Fenimore searched across the Wild West for the golden skulls that would unlock a fabled treasure. After a long hiatus, our brave cowboy got an upgrade to 3D graphics and returned in Wanted: A Wild Western Adventure. This time around, Fenimore’s job was to prevent John Starek from stealing land. But a cowboy’s work is never done and the vast Wild West beckons yet again. Put on your long coats and cowboy hats, saddle your horses, and make sure you have enough ammunition. Our famous cowboy is back with Fenimore Fillmore‘s Revenge.
With the latest installment, Revistronic will be taking the Fenimore Fillmore series in a different direction. As noted on the company Web site, Revistronic is trying to change its profile as a company delivering “3D adventure [games] with cartoon animation”. For the Fillmore series, the fundamental change will be in the game’s tone. Fenimore Fillmore’s Revenge will still be an adventure game. However, the game will have a much more serious tone than the other titles in the series, immediately apparent from the available screenshots. Fenimore Fillmore’s Revenge seems to be targeted towards a more mature audience.
In his newest game, Fenimore will not be adventuring alone. Rhiannon Starek, one of the characters from the second game, will be joining our cowboy in this adventure. Together Rhiannon and Fenimore will face a gang of outlaws, trying to uncover the treasure hidden in a tomb. Given the change in tone, the latest installment in the Fenimore series probably will not be the hilarious western adventure fans of the previous game may be expecting. However, Fenimore Fillmore’s Revenge still seems to be shaping up as a solid, engaging adventure game. Our cowboy is currently scheduled to raid the stores in the second quarter of 2006.
